Culture Night 2024

With over 1300 visitors at the telescopes and in the planetarium, it is safe to say that Culture Night 2024 was a great success.

Arranging astronomy events on Culture Night is always a bit difficult since we do not know in advance if the skies are going to be clear.  We had luck with us this year.  The weather was nice and sunny during the day and once the Sun set we could bring out the telescopes and invite people to look at stellar clusters, planets, galaxies and the Moon.

At the planetarium we were running shows all day and the que was quite long at times.  During the day we were running the show ”The Dark side of Light” and in the evening we were running a show called ”Supermassive Black Holes”.  Both shows are brand new to our Planetarium and had their premiere on Culture Night.

All in all we had over 1300 visitors viewing and enjoying space, either at the telescopes or at the Planetarium.  Our friends at ASTB also had their telescopes out, so including the people viewing the Sun and Planets through their telescopes the number of people who got to enjoy astronomy on Culture night is probably close to 2000.
