High-resolution transit spectroscopy: challenges and recent progress

ABSTRACT

I will briefly introduce the concept of transit photometry and spectroscopy and explain complementarity of space- and ground-based observations. Then I will focus on challenges of achieving the required data quality and importance of high spectral resolution. Finally, I will present the new ESO instrument CRIRES+ designed for this task and will try to show some very recent and exciting results without breaking the data publication rules :-)
