Dynamics and history of the Milky Way disc with Gaia

ABSTRACT

Thanks to the large amount of data delivered by the Gaia satellite and their excellent precision, in the last three years we have experienced a vertiginous progress in the studies of our Galaxy. I will talk about the discovery of unexpected structures in the Milky Way phase-space such as the Gaia phase spiral and ridges in the disc planar velocities. I will show how these findings are helping us to unravel a complex Milky Way that is being perturbed both by internal mechanisms such as the bar and the spiral arms, and the interaction with its companion galaxies such as Sagittarius.
