I work at Lund Observatory, where I am part of the Stellar Populations group, working with stellar spectroscopy to solve the mysteries of the Milky Way.

About Me

My name is Louise Howes, and I'm a postdoctoral researcher at Lund University, in Sweden. I've been working here since September 2015, previously I was a PhD student at the Australian National University in Canberra.

My Research

I study a range of interesting questions to do with the formation and evolution of the Milky Way. In particular, my past research has focussed on trying to find the oldest stars in the Galaxy, in order to trace its origins. I have also started using large scale spectroscopic surveys to answer questions about the Galactic chemical structure that we see today.
