Katrin Ros

I am a PhD student in the planet formation group lead by Anders Johansen, at Lund University, Sweden.

My research interests are planet formation and the origins of our own Solar System. By using computer models I study protoplanetary discs - turbulent planet-forming regions around young stars. The focus of my research is on how the building blocks of planets, kilometer-sized rocks called planetesimals, are formed.

My first paper, Ice condensation as a planet formation mechanism, was recently published in Astronomy & Astrophysics. Here, we showed that ice condensation is an efficient mechanism for forming centimeter-sized pebbles in protoplanetary discs - a first step towards planets.
