Stone Edge Observatory

Stone Edge observatory is situated in California. The advantage of using Stone Edge for remote observations is the time difference; Its still dark in California long into the day here in Europe. It is possible for groups to book observing time at the telesocpe through Vattenhallen Science Center. This observing session would then take place at Vattehallen under the guidence of one of the astronomers there.

Here you can download data taken at some recent observing runns with the the Stone Edge Observatory. Available below are the unprocessed images direct from the telescope in .fits format. For image viewing, processing and analysing I recomend the Subaru Image Processor or this simple Image processor.

M1: The Crab Nebula
Filters: g, r and i
Total exposure time: 50 minutes

M31: The Andromeda Galaxy
Filters: g, r and i
Total exposure time: 28 minutes

Observations of 3 asteroids:
Hebe, Tezcatlipoca and Irene

M42: The Orion Nebula
Filters: g, r and i
Total exposure time: 3 minutes and 40 seconds

NGC2237: The Rosette Nebula
Filters: g and i, but mostly h-alpha<7br> Total exposure time: 70 minutes
