When writing in Danish, Tycho calls himself Tyghe, or Thyge. He is also called Tygge, Thygge, Tyge, Tyke or Tyko. However, when writing in another language like Latin or German, he is always Tycho. Tycho Brahe from a copy of an oil-painting by Gemperlin (a painter hired by Tycho). The original was distroyed in a fire in 1859, but a copy by Jensen is preserved. This picture is from a card, 3.3 x 5.5 cm, that was mass-reproduced as a "cigarette card" during the nineteenth century, and with the original painting as model.
