Lund Observatory Library Catalogue
TINlib is a MS-DOS based library catalogue.
The system is available on the standup computer in the library,
please see the pink information sheet. If you need further
assistance, ask Eva Jurlander.
Web Search
The library catalogue is available on the web.
The search facility offered is a
search motor using an input form, where
information about title or author (or whatever
contained in the database) may give one or more hits
on specific items.
What is in TINlib
From 1988, all our new books (monographs, book series etc) are catalogued
in TINlib.
The database consists of approx. 5000 entries.
Search also in LOVISA
Most of our books are included in the Lund University Library catalogue LOVISA, where you also may see the status of the book (available, lost etc). If the book is out on loan, you can reserve the book in the Lovisa system. It is an ongoing project to include all our books in Lovisa.
To find some older books, journals, observatory publications etc., you still have to search in the card catalogue (located in the library). From 2002, we have ceased to write cards for new book acquisitions.
How to locate and borrow the book
"Shelf reference" in the catalogue refers to the location of the book (not updated).
The books are classified in subject areas according to the Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts classification system
("Classification no" in the catalogue).
They are then put in alphabetical order in each subject area, according to
the main entry, which is in CAPITAL letters in TINlib.
